Jacobson & Ratzel is a firm consisting of 7 attorneys and 3 insurance risk assessors, and is engaged in the practice of a wide variety of legal matters.  In addition to the family law practice of Attorney Karyn Gimbel Youso, the firm has a general civil trial and appellate practice, and handles business transactions including real estate, business law, acquisitions and mergers, wills/probate, and contracts.  The civil litigation practice group handles personal injury claims, both plaintiff and defense oriented.  The insurance risk management practice group handles cases involving insurance claims, risk assessment and management, insurance coverage and disputes, regulatory compliance, and advises PEOs on a national basis.

James J. Jacobson, J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Business Law, Insurance Law, Civil Litigation and Workers Compensation.  Mr. Jacobson has represented clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts and mediation and arbitration panels.  Mr. Jacobson has over 20 years of litigation experience.  Mr. Jacobson’s practice includes Insurance and Risk Management Consulting.  Mr. Jacobson serves on several nonprofit boards.  He is a graduate of Marquette University (B.S. 1978, J.D. 1981).

L. John Ratzel, Jr., J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Business and Insurance Law, Mr. Ratzel’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions, insurance regulatory compliance, contract, real estate corporate law, and related matters.  Mr. Ratzel has represented clients before regulatory bodies and held key executive positions within several insurance companies. Mr. Ratzel serves on several nonprofit boards.  Mr. Ratzel served as a Minority Counsel to a Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives.  He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University (B.A. 1975, J.D. 1978).

Daniel C. Conway, J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Business and Insurance Law, Wills/Probate, Civil Litigation (including plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance defense), and Insurance Risk Management Consulting, Mr. Conway has represented clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts and mediation and arbitration panels.  Mr. Conway has served as out sourced risk manager for two large national companies.  Mr. Conway provides advice to companies regarding risk identification and strategy development, insurance procurement, insurance program administration, claims analysis and oversight, and contract review.  He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire (B.B.A. Cum Laude 1982), and Marquette University (J.D. 1985).

Karyn Gimbel Youso, J.D.

Practicing in the area of family law, Ms. Youso has represented clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts and mediation and arbitration panels.  Ms. Youso has over 13 years of litigation experience and is admitted to practice in both Wisconsin and Illinois.  Ms. Youso is the current Marketing Chair for the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, and a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.  She graduated from University of Pennsylvania (B.A. 1989) and Washington University School of Law ( J.D. 1992).

Jake A. Josetti, J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Business Law, Insurance Law, Civil Litigation (including plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance defense), Workers Compensation and Immigration Law, Mr. Josetti’s practice includes Insurance Law and Risk Management consulting.  Mr. Josetti graduated from Ball State with  honors (B.S. 1999), and Marquette University Law School ( J.D. 2003).

Elissa M. Bowlin, J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Civil Litigation (including plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance defense), and general Civil Litigation.  Ms. Jurken graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (B.S. 2001) and from the University of Dayton School of Law (J.D. 2004).

Adrial B. McField, J.D.

Practicing in the areas of Civil Litigation (including plaintiff's personal injury and insurance defense). Ms. McField graduated from DePaul University, Chicago, IL (B.S. 2003) and from the University of Wisconsin Law School (J.D. 2007).
